Obawolu Bunmi Ganiyat is from Auga Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. I had my primary and secondary school education in Owo, Ondo state Nigeria, before I proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile- Ife, Osun state, Nigeria where I obtained Bachelor in Agriculture in Crop Production and Protection (2015).

Through my passion and interest for agricultural research, I was awarded the student with the second best project in the department of Crop Production and Protection 2013/2014 session in a project titled ‘Imbibition Characteristics and Effect of Temperature on Germination of West African okra (Abelmoschus caillei) seeds.

My desire to learn and research on modern agricultural technology as a panacea to solving food security issues coupled with series of encounter with my mentor a Professor of seed science triggered my decision to pursue a higher degree in seed science.

Studying MPhil Seed Science and Technology in WACCI is a great privilege for me in achieving my career objective as an impactful researcher and teacher in Agricultural sector especially on seeds which are central to productivity in crop production.

My research interest is on biology and conservation of underutilized crop species which has great potential in combating food insecurity in Africa and the world at large.
