WACCI Alumna Appointed as First Female Director at IRAD

Dr. Malfouassan Apala Hortense, an alumna of the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), wasrecently appointed as the first female Director of the Division of Crop Production at the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) in Cameroon. IRAD is Cameroon’s main research agency that conducts studies on agricultural crops, livestock, forestry, fishing, and natural resources. The Crop Production Division forms one of the four major technical divisions within the institution. Dr. Malfouassan Apala who was a member of the PhD Plant Breeding graduating class of 2015 researched on “Genetic Analysis of Tolerance to Low Soil Nitrogen in Intermediate Maturing Maize (Zea mays L.) Inbred Lines”.
