Yaw owusu Ababio

Yaw Ababio Owusu is a hardworking and team oriented young man from Ghana. He has a long term goal of becoming an Agriculture researcher and extension agent with the aim of providing products, particularly seeds and seed related technologies to help farmers achieve global food security for a growing population, sustainably in his country and the sub region. He holds a B.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology Degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Yaw served voluntarily as a research assistant with the Crop and Soil Science Department at KNUST and also the Biotechnology department at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of the Crop Research Institute (CSIR- CRI) Fumesua. Aside His science prowess, he possess professional experience in financial management having served as Direct Sales Consultant with Bayport Savings and Loans.

Considering the relevance of quality seed production in agriculture in achieving appreciable yields and food security in the sub region and with his expertise in seed production, Yaw is ready to partner with NGO’s, donor partners and development agencies to create seed related innovations. This he believes is to assist farmers overcome multiple challenges paramount in poor productivity resulting in increased poverty amongst farmers through production of quality seeds. He also seeks to boost yield of farmers via improved seed and train smaller holder farmers on the production, processing, marketing and financing of quality seeds. Yaw Owusu has the overall goal of building the capacity of stakeholders in the seed value chain in order to produce healthy, premium crops and minimize the use of precious natural resources by supplying quality seeds in West Africa and beyond.
