DAAD commends WAACI director on winning the Africa Food Prize

DAAD has joined the growing list of WACCI’s Partners and stakeholders who have shared goodwill and congratulatory messages with Prof Eric Danquah for receiving the 2022 Africa Food Prize.

 

In a letter signed by Mareike Khaskeia, Head of Section, ST32 Scholarship Programs in Africa, DAAD congratulated Prof. Eric Danquah on receiving the prestigious award. Mareike referred to Prof. Danquah as “a pioneer in modern agriculture in Africa over the past and coming years” and shared the hope for forward-looking collaboration.

 

DAAD is the world’s largest funding organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since it was founded in 1925, around 2.8 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. The In Country/ In-Region Scholarship Programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. Scholarships are generally granted for development-related Master or doctoral studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in their home region or in their home country.

 

WACCI has maintained its partnership with the scholarship scheme since 2015, with a total of 89 WACCI PhD and MPhil students benefitting from DAAD scholarships.
