The In Country/ In-Region Scholarship Programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. Scholarships are generally granted for development-related Master or doctoral studies for individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in their home region or in their home country.

WACCI has maintained its partnership with the scholarship scheme since 2015, with a total of 89 WACCI PhD and MPhil students benefitting from DAAD scholarships.
