Director of WACCI, Prof. Eric Danquah appointed board member of Twifo Oil Palm Plantation Limited (TOPP)

The Director of the West African Centre for Crop Improvement, WACCI, Professor Eric Yirenkyi Danquah has been appointed along with 10 others to serve as Board of Directors of the Twifo Oil Palm Plantation (TOPP) Limited. The institution of the new board is part of efforts to transform the Twifo Oil Palm Plantation(TOPP) Limited into a world-class and sustainable oil palm plantation.

The Board members were sworn-in at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra. The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto said at the event; “As part of the partnership, TOPP and the government would collaborate to increase investments in the growth and extension of the plantation, provide support for smallholder farmers and adopt measures to guarantee the plantation has a greater positive economic impact.”

 

Speaking to some staff members of WACCI, Prof Eric Danquah said about his appointment; “I am excited about the partnership to increase investments for the transformation of the TOPP into a world-class institution. Science-led agriculture has been the norm in many developed countries, and I am glad to see the government of Ghana take bold strides to bring the country at par with the rest of the world.”

 

The other members of the board include Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV, Mr David Klotey Collison, Kwaku Oppong-Duah and Mr Faris Elias Attricke. The rest are Dr John Ampontuah Kumah, Mr. Richard Twumasi-Ankrah, Mr Daniel Kojo Nyame, Mad. Abena Ntrakwah-Mensah and Mr Sekar Ramamoorthy.
