Prince Emmanuel Norman

Prince E. Norman is a Research Officer in the Germplasm enhancement and seed systems, Njala Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI). His biological parents are Mr. Daniel James Norman (late) and Mrs. Cecilia Sata Norman. Mr. Norman has a nag for research since his childhood. He used to cultivate groundnut, sweet potatoes, maize, etc. and developed strong passion to contribute to improving the livelihoods of farmers.

Prince studied Bachelor of Science in Crop Science at Njala University College (NUC), University of Sierra Leone. He did His Masters of Science in Crop Science and Masters of Science in Plant Breeding, at Njala University, Sierra Leone and University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa, respectively. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Ghana (UG), Ghana. Mr. Norman joined the National Agricultural Research Coordinating Council (NARCC) in April, 2004 as a Research Assistant and was assigned to work on yam at the Institute of Agricultural Research (IAR), Njala. He is currently doing his PhD at the West African Center of Crop Improvement, UG, Ghana. He has conducted a number of researches on yams, cocoyam and collaborated on maize, sweet potato and other crops. Prince is currently serving as Research Fellow at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) (2017 and 2018). He has mentored a number of students in their projects, served in various leadership roles including Secretary, International Association of Research Scholars and Fellows (IARSAF), Symposium Committee, IITA, Teaching Assistant at the University Secondary School, leader of the yam and cocoyam crops value chains, a member of many international scientific bodies, etc.
