During the brief ceremony held on WACCI’s premises on Tuesday September 1, 2015, the Director of WACCI, Professor Eric Yirenkyi Danquah said that over the years, the Centre has been working together with a number of departments in the College especially the Crop Science Department. In light of the tremendous contributions of faculty in the College in making the Centre what it is today, the Centre has seen the need to give back to one of its strategic partners, the Forest and Horticultural Research Centre (FOHCREC), a unit under the School of Agriculture (CBAS). He mentioned how proud the Centre was of being a part of the CBAS and hoped for fruitful collaborations. The College also donated a brand new tractor to FOHCREC.

He handed over all documentations and the keys of both the vehicle and the tractor to the Dean of the School of Agriculture, Professor John Ofosu-Anim. He charged the Dean to ensure that the vehicle was used appropriately for its required purpose. The Dean of the School of Agriculture thanked the Director of WACCI and his team for the kind gesture and said, “this gift will go a long way to enhance the activities of the College”.

On his part, Professor George Oduro Nkansah, representing the Head of FOHCREC and also as the Coordinator of the Envirodome Vegetable Project received the donations and emphasized that the donation came at the perfect time when WACCI and FOHCREC Envirodome  Vegetable Laboratory Innovation trials at  different locations such as Tamale, Ada, Ashaiman, Shai Hills and Buduatta have commenced.  He indicated that the vehicle will assist the project in its efforts to collect data for research, teaching and training purposes.
