WACCI Product Elected as West Africa Representative, African Potato Association (APA)

Dr. Koussao Some, who obtained his PhD from the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) in July 2013 has been elected as the representative of West Africa for the African Potato Association (APA) for a period of three years at the just ended African Potato Association Conference, 2013 held in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

Dr. Koussao, a sweet potato breeder, enrolled at WACCI in February 2008 to undertake the innovative PhD program in Plant Breeding. His PhD thesis was titled; “Genetic Improvement of Sweet Potato for Beta-Carotene and Yield in Burkina Faso”. WACCI, established with initial funding from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, is a Centre of Excellence for the training of plant breeders for the West and Central African sub-region.
