WACCI Student Participates in the 2015 European Plant Phenotyping Network (EPPN) Workshop

Mr. Olumide Alabi, a second year PhD student at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana, has participated in the 2015 Spring School course on ‘Plant Phenotyping Workshop’ organised by the European Plant Phenotyping Network (EPPN) from March 9-13, 2015.

 

Participants at the workshop included PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. The participants were taken through practical exercises on modern trends and the different aspects of plant phenotyping.

 

Some topics discussed at the workshop included:

  • Is phenotyping useful for plant breeding
  • Functional-Structure in plant models
  • Integrated root phenotyping
  • Phenomics experiment
  • Computed Tomography (CT Scanning) for plant phenomics
  • 3D Phenotyping at different scales
  • An introduction to Chemo-metric data analysis

 

The Spring School took place at the National Plant Phenomics Centre, IBERS, Aberystwyth University, in the UK.
