The West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana, has officially welcomed its new National Service Persons (NSPs) for the 2024/2025 academic year. The ceremony, held at the Centre's auditorium, introduced 11 new NSPs, comprising 8 females and 3 males, who will have the opportunity to work with WACCI for a year.
In his address, Professor Eric Danquah, the Founding Director of WACCI, encouraged the new NSPs to dedicate themselves to their work with diligence and commitment. He emphasized that over the past 17 years, NSPs have been instrumental in driving the Centre's mission forward and contributing significantly to its success.

As part of the ceremony, WACCI also bid farewell to the outgoing 2023/2024 batch of NSPs, marking the end of their year-long service at the Centre. Prof. Danquah expressed deep gratitude for their dedicated service and encouraged them to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to become game changers in their respective fields. He noted that many former NSPs have gone on to make a global impact, often citing their time at WACCI as transformative. He further assured the outgoing NSPs that the Centre's doors would always remain open to them as they advance in their careers.
Each year, WACCI competitively recruits top graduates from various universities to work at the Centre. We are excited to have the 2024/2025 batch of NSPs on board and wish them a fruitful stay.
