The WACCI PhD is a four-year programme consisting of two stages: one year of academic study at the University of Ghana and three years of thesis research at the students’ research station/university in their home countries. Students return in the last six months of the final year to complete and submit their theses.
The MPhil in Seed Science and Technology at WACCI is designed to address the critical shortage of seed scientists in Africa. This two-year program provides students with advanced knowledge in seed physiology, pathology, and production, alongside hands-on training in seed business management. Our graduates are equipped to lead the development of a robust seed industry, ensuring that high-quality, high-yielding varieties reach the smallholder farmers who need them most.
WACCI offers specialized professional short courses designed for mid-career professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. These courses bridge the gap between academic research and field application, covering topics such as Seed Enterprise Management, Plant Breeding Techniques, and Modern Biotechnology. Our curriculum is tailored to provide practical, high-impact skills that can be immediately implemented to improve food security and agricultural productivity in the sub-region.
