WACCI Welcomes Mr. Alexander Asante-Atuobi as Team Lead, Finance

The West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Alexander Asante-Atuobi as Team Lead, Finance.

Mr. Asante-Atuobi brings a wealth of experience and deep institutional knowledge in public sector finance, honed over more than a decade at the University of Ghana’s Finance Directorate. In his most recent role as Head of the Financial Accounting Unit, he led the preparation of consolidated financial statements, coordinated university-wide audits, and ensured compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). 

 

A Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana), he holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance and a BSc in Business Administration (Accounting) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His competencies include financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, asset inventory, and leadership in digital finance platforms like ITS.

Known for his precision, critical thinking, and collaborative spirit, he has been instrumental in financial planning at both college and university levels and has led initiatives that strengthened internal controls and promoted transparency.

 

As WACCI continues to scale new heights in research excellence, regional impact, and financial sustainability, we are excited to welcome Mr. Asante-Atuobi to our leadership team. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as we build on our legacy and chart the course for WACCI 3.0.
