UNIVERSITY OF GHANA TOPS WORLDBANK ACE IMPACT COMPETITIVE GRANT APPLICATION

University of Ghana tops the World ACE Impact competitive grant application with 3 successful applications at the project launch in Djibouti today.

The president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh gave an illuminating address on R&D for Africa’s Development at the project launch. The 3 University of Ghana Centres including WACCI will secure a total of $17.4 million from the World Bank to support postgraduate training and applied research in agriculture and health sciences. The two other Centres in the area of Health Sciences are WACCBIP, led by Professor Awandare and WAGMAG, led by Professor Ofori-Acquah. WACCI and WACCBIP are to access $5.5 m project renewal grants each while WAGMC will access a new grant of $US 6.4 for the four-year project.
